Team Europe Qualification Explained
Ryder Cup Qualification will conclude on September 3, 2023, a full three weeks ahead of the Ryder Cup week, when the six players who qualify automatically will be confirmed. These six automatic qualifiers will comprise the three leading players on the European Points List followed by the three leading players on the World Points List.
European Captain Luke Donald will then select a further six Captain’s Picks to complete his 12-man team to face the United States. -

Today, the Ryder Cup is golf’s pre-eminent event, biennially bringing together 12-member teams from the U.S. and Europe for glory and pride on a three-day worldwide stage. Spanning 91 years and now 42 competitions, the Ryder Cup also is among the last great professional sporting events where winning, and not prize money, is the reward.

How it Works
The Ryder Cup is played in odd-numbered years between 12-member teams from the United States and Europe. It consists of five match-play sessions played over three days.
Team Selection
The U.S. Team will be made up from the top six eligible players in the points rankings with six captain's picks.
The European Team will be made up from the top three eligible players from the European Points List, the top three eligible players from the World Points List and six captain's picks.

Ryder Cup Format
Each of the first two days includes one four-match session of four-ball and one four-match session of foursomes. The final day is reserved for 12 singles matches.
Ryder Cup Scoring
Each match is worth one point, with matches ending in a draw worth ½ point to each side. The first team to reach 14 ½ points wins the Ryder Cup. If the matches end in a 14-14 draw, the team holding the Ryder Cup retains it.
